Because your feelings aren’t interruptions , they’re information.
🌿 Why Today Matters
Every year on October 10th, the world comes together to honour World Mental Health Day a day to pause, reflect and care whilst remembering that this goes beyond today, it's an everyday necessity.
This year’s theme reminds us that mental health isn’t just about awareness; it’s about action. And action starts with something deeply personal: checking in with yourself. This month is also Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to reset, reflect and reconnect with your emotional wellbeing —because you can’t care for others if you’re running on empty.
🔋 What Is Your Emotional Battery?
Imagine your emotional wellbeing as a battery, it’s constantly being charged and drained by your environment, relationships, responsibilities and inner dialogue.
Here’s a simple self-check inspired by our Emotional Battery Framework 👇
💚 Feeling Great — You’re grounded, nourished, and practising good self-care. Keep meeting your needs and maintaining your routines.
💙 Feeling Okay — You’re fine, but slightly low on joy. Ask: “What could make today just a little better?”
💛 Meh — You’re emotionally flat or disconnected. Be extra kind to yourself; this is your cue to rest, not to push harder.
🧡 Struggling — You’re juggling a lot and something’s slipping. Focus on one area that needs care today — not everything at once.
❤️ Empty — You’re drained. Pause. Identify what’s been pulling your energy, set a boundary, and do one small thing that fills you up rest, nature, silence or support.
This isn’t about perfection — it’s information. Each level helps you understand where your energy is and what you need to feel whole again.
⚡ Why Emotional Awareness Is Self-Care
We often wait until we crash to care for ourselves. But self-care isn’t a reaction, it’s a practice of awareness.
When you notice your battery running low, you can act before burnout sets in. Here are a few small ways to check and recharge daily:
Pause daily. Take 30 seconds to ask, “How am I really feeling?”
Name your charge. Use colours, words or numbers to describe your current state.
Respond with compassion. Choose one micro-action that recharges you a stretch, a breath, a short walk or simply saying no.
💬 The Bigger Picture
World Mental Health Day is a reminder that we’re all human and humanity requires rest, reflection, and reconnection. By checking your emotional battery regularly, you develop emotional literacy: you start recognising your needs before they turn into exhaustion, resentment or burnout. You don’t have to be at 100% all the time., You Do npot need to be plugged in all the time neither do you have to ok all the time "It's Ok To Not Be Ok" You just need to notice where you are and give yourself permission to recharge.
💚 A Gentle Reminder from L2M Coaching
Your emotions are your inner compass , they tell you what needs attention, love, or change. Today, tomorrow and every other day make it a habit to take a quiet moment to listen.
✨ Check your battery. Recharge your soul. Because you cannot pour or charge yourself or others from an empty battery and you don’t have to try.
